Feeling down, anxious, or burnt out?
Please feel free to reach out to your chief mom/dad, the chief on call, Kate, Ted, and/or whoever you feel most comfortable talking to. There are also multiple resources available to you at any time (see below!).

Resources available to all residents:
Office of Clinician Support (OCS)—available to all residents; provides support for work-related issues, including burnout and stress management. Also provides referrals for longer term therapy to community mental health providers. Can “bridge” clinicians until a longer term therapist is identified. With the recent addition of another clinician, OCS is able to provide increased availability, including evening appointments. DOCS peer support program—The DOCS program is a peer support program; DOCS coaches represent a wide spectrum of areas of practice, years of experience and diversity of age/gender/ethnicity. A DOCs coach is on call weekdays from 3-7 (page DOCS through BCH page operator); you can also set up an appointment by contacting Liz Robinson (617-355-6705) or email DOCS@childrens.harvard.edu
Both hospitals have employee have Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). EAP offers free and confidential 24/7 phone and online access to mental health services. EAPs can provide referrals to mental health providers, as well as assistance with child care, financial and legal counseling (usually limited to once a year). Both EAPs have some availability to provide face to face counseling sessions, but are limited to 3-5 sessions a year. The EAP contact information: BMC (866-695-6327) and BCH (800-648-9557).
Group Therapy Practices with Weekend/Evening Hours (recommended by BCH OCS):
Lifestance-(617)-405-5735, this is a large group practice with many locations in the Boston area; as with many large practices, not all clinicians take all insurances, but most take BCBS and some that take the BMC insurance. They also provide medication services for clients who see a therapist there, and have a wide range of services including psych testing.
Boston Evening Therapy -(617) 738-1480,group practice in Brookline with evening and weekend hours. They take BCBS insurance.
Life Changes Group -(617) 354-4450,group practice with several locations. Takes BCBS. Has weekend and evening hours, also provides medication services for clients who see a therapist there. Specializes in cognitive-behavioral therapy.
Leggett Group -(857) 273-2123,a smaller (but excellent) group in Roslindale. They take BCBS, and have some clinicians who take BMC insurance. They provide a range of services, but have a special perinatal mental health group.
Supportive Scheduling for Chronic Health Guidelines AY26-27
We are committed to supporting residents with chronic health conditions in whatever way you need to grow and thrive in the BCRP. Please see the document below for further details on programs available for residents with chronic health conditions and reach out to the chronic health chief (Hannah Bousquet AY26-27) to participate in this program.
BMC-Specific Resources
The Employee Resilience Program (https://hub.bmc.org/employee-center/employee-wellbeing/employee-resilience-program). Employee Resilience Clinicians: Beth Milaszewski, LICSW & Adrianne Burnham, LCSW, MPH are available to meet with staff (through Zoom or appointment) to provide direct short-term psychosocial support to employees experiencing stress or difficulties related to work. They also support employees in navigating their behavioral health benefits, identify long-term therapy providers and provide resource navigation for housing and community services. Residents can reach out to the Employee Resilience Program by emailing resilience@bmc.org at any time with questions.
Dr. Berenbaum, a BMC psychiatry attending, frequently sees residents (at convenient times before/after the work day) and partners of residents at BMC for therapy and/or psychiatric medication needs. You can reach him by email (bbq@bu.edu), page (0196) or phone (617-738-8674). He can also help direct you to other providers, either within BMC or outside the institution.
Headspace - Headspace can be used as a personal guide towards less stress, more focus, and better sleep. With guided exercises and structured courses, Headspace will help you start your day motivated and end your day grounded. Sleepio - Research shows people who suffer from chronic sleep problems have more difficulty managing emotions, are at double the risk of developing depression and respond less to treatment for mental health disorders. Sleepio is a web-based program that uses CBT to teach techniques to get your sleep schedule, thoughts, lifestyle, and environment into shape. To get started, visit www.sleepio.com/bmc.
Daylight - Daylight is a digital therapy program designed to help you build your resiliency so you can feel better when facing life’s tough challenges. It uses CBT to teach personalized ways to manage daily stress, worries, and anxiety. To get started, visit www.trydaylight.com/bmc.
Chaplain on Demand - BMC’s Chaplains have an appreciation for the reality of human fragility and understand the feelings of uncertainty and anxiety that staff may be experiencing. They are trained to respond to your spiritual, emotional, and religious needs. Call 617.414.4299 to speak with a member of Chaplaincy Services.
Mindful Moment - BMC’s Mindfulness Program has a weekly "Mindful Moment" email with links to its virtual drop-in sessions, thoughtful poems, and easy stress relief tips to support and strengthen resiliency. Email mindfulness@bmc.org to sign up or learn more about mindfulness resources at BMC.
BMC Domestic Violence Program - Provides support and resources for employees and patients with suspected or known domestic violence situations. Contact Joanne Timmons at 617-414-5457 or visit their website here for more information.
BMC Behavioral Health Clinic - Residents are always welcome to arrange a mental health visit in the Dowling Building (617 414 5245), with the caveat that psychiatry residents rotate here.

FUNuary: Be on the lookout for a bolus of activities in February to get through the winter hump! Activities include: cooking with leadership, game nights, cocktail making, art and exercises classes and more!
BCRP Sports Activities: Soccer games, softball tournaments, soul cycle, step challenge, etc.
BCRPBrunches: Look out for emails from the chief residents regarding special BCRP brunches with the leadership during the springtime of each academic year!
