Mission Statement

The mission of the Leadership in Equity and Advocacy (LEAD) Track is to cultivate a community of diverse pediatricians focused on caring for underserved and marginalized children.

LEAD residents believe that reducing health disparities is central to their lives as pediatricians, whether in primary care, subspeciality, or acute settings. We aim to provide UHAT residents with necessary skills in advocacy, leadership, and research to foster their academic interests while strengthening their focus on reducing social and healthcare injustices in local and global settings. By the end of training, UHAT residents graduate with the foundational knowledge, skills, and professional community to become true allies of the underserved.
